You may have already thought of every advertising methods possible, and implemented attractive ads. This in itself is a very important aspect to bringing in new customers, and is sure to bring you plenty of visitors to your business website. However, just because your ad campaigns are successful in pulling in loads of traffic, don’t count your lucky stars yet! Getting them to your website is only half of the battle, because once they arrive to your website you want to be able to keep their attention.
First thing you need to concentrate on when you are designing your home business website is organization. You need to ensure that the moment a potential customer lands on your website they feel calm and in control. You don’t want to lose them just because they can’t navigate quickly to the section they want to view. They are there for a reason, so don’t let disorganization be the reason they immediately leave the website.
You only have a few seconds to capture their attention, because it is very easy for them to close your site and move on the next one offering the same product or service. If this happens, they will probably not return. Therefore, make sure that your site is organized, and easy to navigate!
Another easy way to quickly lose the attention and trust of your potential customer is if your site is too busy. Preferably, you should not have a million buttons, banners, and links all over the place. Colors should also be limited to only a few main colors otherwise it just looks unprofessional.
Trust is a very big issue right now on the internet. You need to do everything you can to give them a sense of who you are, that you are for real and can be contacted if needed. Always have a great contact box, page, or form highly visible. If they can not easily find your contact information, or have to scour the fine print so to say, they are likely to not purchase from you.
Before you let your home business website go live, do some testing on your chosen communication method. If you have set up a contact form, make sure it works! Don’t let emails get lost going to a mistyped email address, and make sure you have any phone messenging centers set up correctly. Answer all customer inquiries promptly. Customers like to receive quick confirmations and replies. If they don’t get it, they don’t feel like you value them, and you will lose them.
Don’t rush the design and setup of your website. Remember that this is the first thing your customer is going to see, and it will be likely be your primary storefront for your product or service. Take your time and make it the best it can be right from the start so that you can retain as many potential customers as you can. It can be the key to your success or failure as a home business owner, it is up to you!
